چکیده

We study several process equivalences on a probabilistic process algebra. First, we define an operational semantics. Afterwards we introduce the notion of passing a test with a probability. We consider three families of tests according to the intended behavior of an external observer: Reactive (sequential tests), generative (branching tests), and limited generative (equitable branching tests). For each of these families we define three predicates over processes and tests (may-pass, mustpass, passp ) which induce three equivalences. Finally, we relate these nine equivalences and provide either alternative characterizations or fully abstract denotational semantics. These semantic frameworks cover from simple traces to probabilistic acceptance trees.

The Spectrum of Strong Behavioral Equivalences for Nondeterministic and Probabilistic Processes

We present a spectrum of trace-based, testing, and bisimulation equivalences for nondeterministic and probabilistic processes whose activities are all observable. For every equivalence under study, we examine the discriminating power of three variants stemming from three approaches that differ for the way probabilities of events are compared when nondeterministic choices are resolved via determ...

On the Discriminating Power of Testing Equivalences for Reactive Probabilistic Systems: Results and Open Problems

Testing equivalences have been deeply investigated on fully nondeterministic processes, as well as on processes featuring probabilities and internal nondeterminism. This is not the case with reactive probabilistic processes, for which it is only known that the discriminating power of probabilistic bisimilarity is achieved when admitting a copying capability within tests. In this paper, we intro...

On the Complexity of Deciding Behavioural Equivalences and Preorders A Survey

This paper gives an overview of the computational complexity of all the equivalences in the linear/branching time hierarchy [vG90a] and the preorders in the corresponding hierarchy of preorders. We consider finite state or regular processes as well as infinite-state BPA [BK84b] processes. A distinction, which turns out to be important in the finite-state processes, is that of simulation-like eq...

Group-by-Group Probabilistic Bisimilarities and Their Logical Characterizations

We provide two interpretations, over nondeterministic and probabilistic processes, of PML, the probabilistic version of HennessyMilner logic used by Larsen and Skou to characterize bisimilarity of probabilistic processes without internal nondeterminism. We also exhibit two new bisimulation-based equivalences, which are in full agreement with the two different interpretations of PML. The new equ...

On the Complexity of Deciding Behavioural Equivalences

We give an overview of the computational complexity of all the equivalences in van Glabbeek's linear/branching time hierarchy and the preorders in the corresponding hierarchy of preorders. We consider nite state or regular processes as well as innnite-state BPA and BPP processes. A distinction, which turns out to be important in the nite-state processes, is that of simulation-like equivalences/...
